The 2014 Fifa World Cup
For us at Dona Ana Films & Multimedia, the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil was much more than a 32-day tournament. For us, it was several years of crisscrossing a continental-sized country filming host cities' preparations, countless press conferences, and all the other joys and controversies that surrounded the tournament. This video is a summary of everything we filmed, from the cities' preparations for the tournament, to the World Cup draw, to Germany winning the World Cup.
In the past year, a lot has changed in the world of football. The 2014 World Cup manager for Brazil, Luiz Felipe Scolari, resigned after the Brazilian national team lost 7-1 in the semi-final to Germany, one of the worst losses in FIFA World Cup history, which left the host nation bruised and apathetic about the national team.
FIFA itself is now embroiled in its worst corruption scandal ever. Several of the FIFA officials in this video are being investigated by the FBI for racketeering, wire fraud, and money laundering, like former CBF president José Maria Marin who is currently in prison in Zurich. And, the biggest change of all, FIFA's President, Sepp Blatter, has resigned from his post.
